After releasing a new multi-device update on WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS, that brings bug fixes and new improvements for your experience when using WhatsApp Web/Desktop, WhatsApp is now working on other important improvements. A second version of multi-device was already planned last year, and we have finally new details today: WhatsApp is now working on a proper section where to link another mobile device!
As you can see in this screenshot, the section is called “Register Device as Companion” and it will show up when you try to open WhatsApp on a secondary mobile device. In this case, you can also decide to link your WhatsApp account in order to use it on another device.
At the moment, it seems that it is needed to point your main device to the screen of the secondary device in order to link them by scanning the QR Code: after linking your WhatsApp account to a secondary device, you can finally start to use WhatsApp on another phone! Note that, thanks to this feature, you will also be able to link an Android tablet as a secondary device in the future.
Unfortunately, a release date is unknown so we do not when WhatsApp is going to enable this feature for everyone, but be sure that we will publish a new article on this website when the feature is available!
